Problem

Currently,  young adults lead incredible busy lives, juggling the demands of education, employment, social life, and new responsibilities. This busy lifestyle leaves no time for self-care, often resulting in the neglect of important activities, such as proper nutrition. Fast food and snacks have emerged as the solution for countless young people who lack the time or knowledge to prepare healthy meals.

Solution

The goal is to develop an app that help young adults to improve their nutrition amidst their busy lives. The app’s primary objective is to offer a wide range of delicious, simple, healthy, and cost-effective recipes, ensuring that young people can easily access and prepare nutritious meals.

User Research

I conducted a thorough analysis of various cooking/recipes apps available in the market to discover their strengths and challenges. Additionally, I leveraged Google reviews to gain insights into user sentiments, compiling a list of the most common advantages and disadvantages. The key findings from my research include:

    • Intuitive Interface: some apps suffer from either a cluttered UI or an overly plain, non-interactive UI.
    • Multimedia Integration: there is a notable lack of options for users to visualize media such as photographs, videos, and audio.
    • Accurate Keyword Search:  It should properly interpret the keywords for more efficiency.
    • Visual Guided Instructions: implementing a step-by-step process with images or videos will enhance the user understanding and execution of recipes.
    • Minimized Ad Interruption: minimize user frustration by reducing excessive advertising that interrupts smooth interaction with the app.
    • Integrated Shopping List Feature: providing a convenient shopping list feature that compiles the required ingredients for each recipe, streamlining the user’s cooking preparations.
    • In-App Recipe Display: avoiding redirection to other websites; all recipes should be shown inside the app and not as external links.

By addressing these identified challenges, the goal is to create an app that not only provides functional recipes but also enhances the overall user experience by offering an intuitive interface, incorporating multimedia elements, and evoking a better life style.
